Ken Alexander, 100 Mile Free Press
On Nov. 25, 36 "Horsey Ladies" gathered at Crystal Waters Guest Ranch in Bridge Lake for the inaugural "Bridge Lake/Interlakes Christmas Banquet and Charity Silent Auction".
Bridge Lake residents Cheryle Hickman, Ann Gallob and Andrea Glatz organized the event, and because of its success, they expect that it will become an annual event. Noting they aren't a club or society, group organizer Hickman says they're simply a group of women who want to celebrate Christmas and the love of horses, as well as help others.
Along with other women in the Bridge Lake area, women from Lac Des Roches, 100 Mile House, Green Lake, 108 Mile House, Lac la Hache, and Quesnel join them. Everyone in attendance was given a ballot to vote for charity of her choice, and the top vote getter became the recipient of all the money raised from the silent auction.
Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge of Chase was chosen and will receive $1,525. This is a society that helps donkeys throughout British Columbia.
It's a totally unique evening and it was a chance for a group of women who love horses to get together to chat and network, raise money for a charity voted on by them, Hickman explains. The sponsors showed great support for our cause and certainly helped make the evening a big success.

May 2011: Brian Chan and Mark Pendlington at Crystal Waters

For a documentary within his show "Sportfishing BC", Mark Pendlington visited Crystal Waters together with Brian Chan to fish Crystal Lake. After two days of great fishing the work was done, and both finally traded their rods for reins and climbed up on the horses for a ride - yieeehaw!

April 2011: We proudly present: the new boat dock!

Finally we found the perfect dock for the ranch, it ties up to four boats and is the perfect runway for a big leap into the lake!

Our guests are invited to bring their own boats or to use one of ours for their fishing adventure! Have fun!

CR. Patricia Parks of 100 Mile House hooked the largest fish at the BC Neurofibromatosis fishing derby Aug. 21-22. She pulled a hefty rainbow trout out of Crystal Lake that weighed in at slightly less than seven pounds.August 2010: BCNF fishing derby nets whopper

by Carole Rooney, Free Press 100 Mile House
An inaugural fishing derby held at Crystal Lake on Aug. 21-22 had schools of participants rising to the challenge. The derby raised approximately $400 in funds for the BC Neurofibromatosis Foundation (BCNF) and organizer Traci Parks says the event was a rousing success. "We had a great time and all the participants were fishing with gusto." Patricia Parks of 100 Mile House netted the first-place prize for the largest fish for her rainbow trout that weighed in at six pounds, 14 ounces. "It was no pint-sized fish." Shannon Silverton of 100 Mile caught and weighed in nine fish during the weekend to win the most-fish-caught title. Wayne Durk of Interlakes and Joy Harrison of Langley each won a hidden weight category, and many other fishing prizes were awarded throughout the weekend. Organizers thank everyone involved for the wonderful support, she says, adding their first derby was great fun for all those who participated. "Our thanks go to all the businesses that supported our first annual fishing derby."

LukeMay 2010: Welcome at Crystal Waters, Luke!

We're very happy that Luke joined our team! As our wrangler, he will guide our guests out on the trails. After just one day at the ranch, he already found his buddy: he fell in love with ranch horse "Joe".

Every day he proves his horse and bush sense, and I started to call him eagle eye, because there's no animal in the bush he wouldn't see.  We saw black bears, deer, beavers and eagles out on the trails.  Additionally, he loves to go fishing and hunting and it's lots of fun to practice roping with the dummy.

Our Irish guests, who opened the trailride season with us, made him sing at the campfire. We didn't get around to line dance yet, but this will come, too :-)

So all we can say is: Have the adventure holiday of your lifetime - come and ride with us!

Doggies February 14, 2010: New life at Crystal Waters!

Right in time for Valentine's Day, we got them: our Red Heelers "Bandit" and "Pepper" arrive at the ranch and  immeditately start to chew on just everything.  Shoes, tools, leather stuff and garbage bins have to be kept in a height of at least  3ft from now on. But we're looking forward to the trailride season and to have two  new little  buddies with us.

Thilo's catchDecember 27 - 28, 2009: Ice Fishing with the Boys

Thilo, Klaus, Gerold, Karlheinz, Sammy and Martin went out to English Lake for an ice fishing trip. Sleeping in Lee's trapper cabin, they had two days of perfect weather, some really big catches and - most of all - a lot of fun!

The Crystal Waters Dude Horse BunchDecember 5, 2009: Starting to feed hay
The Crystal Waters Dude Horse Bunch is happy now: there's hay, yeah!

Gary's BabiesOctober 29, 2009: "Say Goodbye to mommy!"
The first snow covers the ground, so it's time to catch the babies out in the field, to separate them from their mommies and to bring them in for proper feeding during the winter.

Winter HayOctober 20, 2009
The first load of winter hay arrived. Did I order too much? Hm, it won't be enough for the whole winter, since we have about 27 horses to feed, and some moose will visit the bales, too. Anyway, it's enough for the beginning, now we are well equipped for snow!

CW Kings Royal GalOctober 7, 2009

We got a new family member: "CW Kings Royal Gal", three years old and  just an absolute sweetheart, chestnut with blond mane and tail, from Crystal Waters Quarter Horses. Yeah, let's go barrelracing!

German's Birthday September 30, 2009

Our friend German celebrates his 81st birthday at the ranch. Steaks, birthday cake, balloons and beer - and Sue, Donna and Gail from Vancouver as special guests!

September 24, 2009

Caroline: “A stunning location, amazing views, incredibly relaxing, but most of all, fantastic hosts. Thanks for everything!”
Philip: „What an amazing time I’ve had! Superb location & superb riding on Banjo. Many thanks for taking us on some great trails & for the food & good company. Auf Wiedersehen!” Dear Caroline, dear Phil, we'd love to see you again!

Leggiero's arrival September 18, 2009

Finally – Leggiero arrived in a first class trailer, and  checks his new place in front of the main lodge. What is he thinking? „Ooh, I'll never leave again!“ Tomorrow he'll get a buddy.

The Knöpfels September 12, 2009

Family Knöpfel from Switzerland spent a great weekend with us. Fabienne wrote me some days later:
„Thanks again for having such a great time on your gorgeous ranch. It was really great, and it was always my dream to visit a rqanch like yours. I really much enjoyed to be around the horses and to help you. Not just arrive, ride and go away. Now I know how much I missed the horses and to go horseback riding. When I'm back home again, I'll go riding again, of course only western riding!"

September 9, 2009

Rob, Cherie, Kelly, Trey, Geordie, Kimberly and Katie: „The Third Gang rides again!“

September 4, 2009

Randy, Doreen & Amanda: „Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation! The hospitality, meals, cabins are the best. Great facilities for our 2 horses & trails with the iron horse!”
